从对大马力的追求到对个性的追求， Hot Rod如今是一个多金的产业，艺术家的加入，更让Hot Rod成了一种生活方式，一些经典的改装也成为收藏圈的常客。

和许多Hot Rod一样，这辆车是由三辆Model A 拼接而成，每辆车上都取了最好的部分，一辆车集合了三个年代的福特车。在拼接风遍布各类产品的今天，最没想到的是车这样东西也能拿来拼。

虽然这辆车的外观看起来比较朴素简洁，但比例堪称完美，在机械上也可谓煞费苦心，不少零部件还是纯手工打造。比如它有个定制的发动机托架（belly pan)，能够最优化车底的空气动力学表现，前鼻在底盘的正上方以最小化风阻。

这辆车的主人是迪克?弗林特（Dick Flint），他是世界知名改装商So-Cal Speed Shop的工作人员，也是公司车队的成员。这辆车搭载的是1940?水星Flathead V8 发动机，凸轮轴、活塞、点火装置、气缸盖等都进行了更换。卓越的性能让其曾在El Mirage干盐湖床上跑出过230公里/小时的成绩。

这辆车上了1952年Hot Rod杂志的封面，那一期的杂志销量暴增，首次达到了50万册。但封面上并不是只有一辆车，而是一个能让人莞尔一笑的场景，男孩看到女孩从他的车前经过，急着想要跳车出去，而女孩恰巧也被这辆“小红车”给吸引，望了过来，封面上捕捉到了这一微妙而又奇妙的瞬间。当然它不仅俘获了少女心，更多少男心（也包括心态年轻的人）也被它勾住了。

它曾在圆石滩上得过最佳的头衔，拍卖价达到了57万美元。Hot Rod价值是如何定的呢？通常需要考虑建造者、外观、工程技术、赛事历史以及在出版物上的曝光度等。

这辆大概是少有的每一项都能得高分的Hot Rod。之所以能卖出高价，跟潮流也有关系，当时一些历史上著名的Hot Rod开始得到人们的欣赏，有一个同好圈特别舍得在它们身上花钱。

同期还有一辆汤姆?麦克马伦（Tom McMullen）的1932 福特 Roadster更是卖出了74万元的高价，跟这辆一样，都是经过精心修复、更换底盘等才能有此身价。

Hot Rod特指的是大马力改装车。关于名字的由来，有几种说法，有的说“Hot”源自短语“hotting up”，指的是提高性能，有的说“Rod”是源自“roadster”，指的是一种轻质的双门车，也有说“Rod”即是发动机里的凸轮轴，在加大马力时经常需要对之进行升级。

Tony Hawk 是玩U池的，Rodeny Mullen 是玩平地花式的，是滑板教父，很多滑板动作都是他发明的。而Danny way 主要是玩超大U池，前几年还飞跃了长城。这三个人都是滑板界的人物，各自研究领域不同，没有可比性，但都很厉害。女生花滑板比较厉害的应该是美国的，名字不清楚。
